Well Done To Adrian Cornwall

I would just like to congtaulate Adrian Cornwall and Joseph Cullen on their wonderful achievements at the Special Olympics world games in Athens. Adrian won Gold,Silver and Bronze in Badminton and Joseph won gold in swimming. A great night was had here at the club last Tuesday in celebration of the achievements of Adrian and Joseph. However it would not have been possible were it not for the work carried out in the background by many many people, i would like to highlight Joe and Sally in the kitchen, our barman Michael, Roison, Francie and John, PJ, Gerry, Mary and all the volunteers and a special word of thanks to the wonderful Kay and Francie who put so much time and effort into not only the special Olympics but to so many other activities in the club too. I would like to pay tribute to Adrian and Joseph and all their special olympic friends who gave them great support and who in the process have brought joy to so many people. i would also like to pay tribute to all the volunteers who give freely of their time each Monday night to help train the athletes. And finally thank you to all those people who made a gaurd of honour, our piper and our Club president Eamonn McCafferty for helping to make it a special night- sincere apologies if i have missed out on thanking anyone. Junior Tennis Coaching Registration

Junior Tennis Coaching registration will take place on Saturday August the 27th at 2pm at Sligo Tennis Club. The new Coaching term will commence the 12th of September. The coaching programme caters for children from 5 to 16 years of age and no previous experience is needed. Open Night Tuesday 21st June at 8pm

West of Ireland Entry

The West of Ireland Tennis Championships is starting here at the club on Friday the 29th of April and concludes on the May Bank Holiday Monday. It would be great if as many members of the club could enter as possible. Entry can be made online or you can fill out an entry form and hand into the reception. So why not have have some fun and at the same time support the club by making an entry.

Junior Tennis Coaching

Hi Everyone,

If anybody has children who would be interested in starting junior tennis coaching then you can contact the club on 071-9162580 or check out the coaching link on the club's website. Junior tennis coaching caters for children 4 years and up and is very reasonably priced when compared to other activities. Term 2 is just starting and there are places still available. Adult lessons are also available and can be done individually or within a group, just contact Jean Barr or Alan McCormack through the above number or the coaching website.

Tennis Club Social Night 28th January

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder;

The Tennis Club Social night will take place on Friday the 28th Of January here at the Club from 8pm to late. There is a mixed doubles event on before it and there is still places left (list is on the tennis notice board). Food and music and presntation of prizes for the Wehrly's Autumn league & singles ladder will also take place.

Tickets are just €15 or €20 if including mixed doubles event and can be bought at the reception or from any tennis committee member.

A great night is to be had so come along and support your club and have some fun in the process!

Christmas Family day at the Tennis Club

Hello All,

Just to let members who have children know that the tennis club is hoping to have a Christmas Family day on Sunday the 12th of December (provisional at the moment) between 3pm and 6pm.
Santa will be making a visit, bouncy castles and face painting on the day too. kids meals will be available for 4 euro- so mums and dads...take a well earned break from cooking the sunday dinner and join in a fun filled afternoon. Parental presence required with children. More details to follow.

Well done to our special olympic badminton athletes

Congratulations to our special olympics Badminton athletes who won 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 4 bronze medals at the special olympics Irish Games held at the weekend. Closure of tennis courts

West of Ireland Championships

Hello all,

Just a reminder that the West of Ireland Tennis Championship starts this May Bank holiday weekend. Best of luck to all the players taking part. A great weekend is in store for all. If you are a member or non member and you are not taking part in the tournament you can still come down and watch and enjoy the play and have an enjoyable relaxing drink in the bar, michael will only be to happy to look after you. There is also a BBQ on Sunday evening put on by celebrated local chef Michael Whelan which will be great craic, tickets are €15 and can be got from any member of the organising committee or ask Michael at the Bar. Finally a big thank you to the West of Ireland organising committee who have put in a huge amount of work as usual, indeed as they do each year in organising the tournament and helping to make the weekend a great success.

Haiti Mixed doubles event: Saturday 13th March at 7pm

Hi everyone,

A mixed doubles event in aid of the Clodagh Murray Haven fund for Haiti will be held at the tennis club on Saturday the 13th of March at 7pm. This event is kindly sponsored by The Hair Lounge in Caltragh.

Minimum fee to play is €20 and all proceeds go to help the people in Haiti. A great evening should be had by all and snacks will be served afterwards in the Bar. There is still several spots available for men so come down and sign up your name and help raise money for a very worthy cause.

Alternatively, if you cant play on the night, why not make a donation anyway. Put your donation in an envelope marked 'mixed doubles haiti haven event' and leave it into the club office for collection. A big thank you to Marina and everyone else who has kindly organised the event.

Just letting everyone know that the Sligo Squash Open is on this weekend at the club. So if you would like to come down and view some high quality competitive squash featuring some of the best players in Ireland then please come and enjoy the fun. The Bar will be open all weekend and there should be plenty of craic. So come on down to the club and cheer on all the Sligo lads as they take on the cream of the crop in Ireland.
